Toyota Yaris automatic diesel Problem

Hello guys,

I have a yaris 2006 late, newer model, and it is automatic diesel engine 1.4. Now i am experiencing a slip on the clutch (pedal on the floor, car is reving but not accelerating as it should, then it kicks in very slowly) and i was wondering what could that be (mean) on an automatic car?
Is there any chance the clutch of an automatic MMT gearbox to be replaced or will it need a new gearbox?
The car has very little milage on it as it is just 65000 for a diesel engine.
Any advice would be appreciated as i dont really know what do i need to replace.

Thank you

The MMT is really a normal manual transmission (clutch and all) with servos that actuate the clutch and gear selection. So, it is definitely possible that your clutch is due for replacing.

You can grab the service manual for the MMT from the Micro Image forum:

thank you for your time,

also i want to ask what price am i looking at? Is it the same as a normal manual clutch or is it going to be a special one? I am asking as i cant seem to find many options online.
If i get a normal clutch for the 1.4 d4d engine model will the mechanic be able to replace it?

Thank you so much

The clutch for your car is 31250-52150 which was later replaced with the 31250-52151

That is a different part number than the clutch for the non MMT six speed.

Your clutch is also used in the 2011+ Yaris Verso-S, 2011+ Yaris Hybrid, 2011+ Corolla (Japanese manufactured) and the 2011+ Auris Hybrid.

Changing it should be very much the same as changing one on a normal manual transmission.

I'm not surprised for a MMT clutch needing replacing this early. I find the system quite dummy and causes early wear of the clutch.

My company's Smart ForTwo CDi needed a clutch replacement around that mileage too.

Interesting. It does seem like kind of a wacky way to automate shifting.

On my 2006 smart CDI, I lube the clutch actuator (servo) every 20,000 Km with white lithium grease. This keeps the servo working properly. I wonder if this is possible with the Toyota system. On the smart the servo also can be "taught in" electronically if it causes the clutch to judder too much. I have 150,000 Km on my smart without any clutch problems.
