Upgrading Sedan Fronts/Rears

here are the fronts im looking at

Pioneer TS-A1684R 4 way 6.5inch
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...TS-A1684R.html
or
Pioneer TS-A1674R 3 way 6.5inch
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...TS-A1674R.html

for my rears im looking at the

Pioneer TS-A6964R 6x9 3 way
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...TS-A6964R.html
or
Pioneer TS-A6974R 6x9 3 way
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...TS-A6974R.html
or
Pioneer TS-A6983R 6x9 4 way
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...TS-A6983R.html
or
Pioneer TS-A6994R 6x9 5 way
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...TS-A6994R.html

now before your head explodes from all of the almost identical models.. i plan on running a Pioneer DEH-P4700HD.. for now im NOT going to be running a 4 channel amp anytime soon, the speakers will be run off the new head unit, i will most likely put in a 4 channel amp in the future, ( by end of this year or next) , i will also be soundproofing the doors , firewall, trunk of the car as well in the summer.

my question is to any of the sound system gurus on here, is the 10-20$ price difference for the 4 way/5 way speakers worth it? is there a noticeable difference in sound quality or is it all a marketing gimmick, i need help choosing what to put in for my fronts and rears, for bass i have 2 kicker 10inch COMPs powered by a 300 wattrms MTX mono d amp (TC3001) in a custom box, i listen to heavy/thrash/black/death/industrial metal.

which should i choose for my fronts and rears?

Do research on RMS of your headunit and the speakers you chose.

When and if you decide to add a 4 channel amp you'll have to take apart the front doors again. To redo the speaker wiring same thing with your amp wiring. You're gonna end up spending more money in the long run.

Id just do everything right the first time.

Hi,

Cheap coaxials in front doors (IMO) is pretty much waste of money - you really want at least a separate tweeter somewhere around the a-pillars or on your dash board.

Couple sets that I would consider (in case of budget restrictions I would buy just front speakers sacrificing the rear ones)

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...TS-D1720C.aspx

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...io_db5251.aspx

In case you would want to add an amplifier later on, you would need to replace the stock speaker wires with something thicker.. you can do it now or later when you buy an amp (not big of a deal to remove the interior door panel once again)

I can't see the links Tolm posted but I am not running rear speakers and I don't miss them at all, but I'm also running an amp to my mids so they sound pretty damn awsome. Just make sure whichever speakers you get you don't run the volume to high sending a clipped signal to everthing. Its going to be a little bit louder than what it sounds now it may not even be noticeable since you're only adding maybe 3 - 5 watts with the new headunit.

When I started on my system a few years ago I used budget 0 gauge which I'm slowly replacing. If I would have bought the good stuff I coulda saved myself quite a bit of money. So please don't take my suggestions as me being an a****** I'm speaking from experience and trying to keep you from making the same mistakes.

Lol thanks :), im definetly doing the big 3 in 0 gauge, i might just even replace my 4 gauge run with 0 gauge. I will think about running a 4 channel amp. If im gonna do components ill def have to figure out how to mount the tweeters in he a pillar. Time to go listen to some speakers and make a choice :p

These are what I put in mine and love them to pieces! I got mine off fleabay for under 100 shipped. Mids are sharp and clean, vocals are a whole new ballgame. Using a 60 watt rms/channel pioneer amp under the passenger seat to push them. I used all new shielded monster cable to each speaker at the same.

I'm using a Pioneer HD headunit on mine too. HD radio is nice! The only thing I can dis Pioneer on is the 2.5 volt pre-amp output and the fact that their preamp section seems to drop or fade after a year or 2. Seems to be lower output after awhile. The last 2 Pioneers I've had did the same thing. If Alpine had a HD radio without having to be a add on.(At a reasonable price) I might go that route, or even Kenwood. But I like my Pioneer all the same.

I think I have a picture, and if my memory works, you need an adapter.

I took the OEM out and toss them in the trash can.

Derick you did away with 6x9s correct ? I don't believe Sq uses them either. And I don't use any either. Save the money you're gonna waste on 6x9s and get a 2 channel or 4 channel amp to push a good component set up front. Do the Big 3 and your electrical system will be fine. Its pretty safe to run 600 -800 watts RMS without having to upgrade your alt. If anything else shop for a battery.

Xs power , kinetik, stinger, etc. I would get that before speakers.

Yes,

At first I took them out the let the BASS go through from the trunk to the cabin,
but now since I don't have my woofer in the trunk I sealed the openings with a double layer of MLV and CCFoam, to stop the rumble that it's generated in the trunk at highway speeds.

Yeah I agree a big 3 helps, and it's less than $40 DIY

You can use your Headunit to run your new component set. One of two things is going to happen though.

1.) You love the way your new set of components sound with just the Headunit power and everybody is happy.

2.) You install your new components and think " i just spent 100 bucks on these speakers and I'm not impressed " at this point you reach over to your headunit and go up on the volume.

There's the mistake, your deck can only output an unclipped signal up to a certain volume, when you exceed that limit you then send a clipped signal to your brand new components, to your amp and to your subwoofer. For an extended period of time somethings going to break, just like what happend to your factory 6x9.

You really need to take some time and plan out the whole install. You've been jumping around from Big 3 upgrades to alternators to headunits to speakers.

On your next post write it out man.

The first thing i would suggest is your Wiring.

The next thing will be your headunit.

Decide on putting in a 4 channel.

Are you going to deaden your front doors.

And so on, If not you'll be going in circles. For example if you decide to install your components and deaden your doors and install an amp to your components you're either going to do it all at once or take apart everything 3 different times. I know it isn't hard to take stuff apart but still plan.

Few components :

Since you like Pioneer : http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...TS-A1604C.html

These are budget, I'd buy these if i wasn't going a diff route

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ss-L-60CX.html

I have had these and so has Derick you can ask his opinion on them i think they're pretty darn kick ass.

For Power wire this is what I'm ordering, i ordered a few feet of another brand the other day and never again.

wow thanks alot for the info!

The first thing i would suggest is your Wiring.

ordering 5 feet of black 1/0 gauge , 12 feet of blue 1/0 gauge ( from battery to distribution block), 6 feet of red 1/0 for alt to battery (big3) from knukonceptz website direct.

The next thing will be your headunit.
a Pioneer DEH-P4700HD. im set on this one :)

Decide on putting in a 4 channel.
found a good mtx 4 channel TC4004 for 120$ being offered used by a local seller. 50 watts rmsx4 at 4ohm
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictu...ture_id=141929

Are you going to deaden your front doors.
my goal for sound deadening for my car is all 4 doors, trunk, and the floor around the front wheel wells (both sides). cant find deadening for a good price, you said obviously to do everything at once so i wont have to be tearing off door panels 300 times, i understand the logic behind that but if the deadening material is expensive i might have to slowly buy it up and when i have enough to do the whole car at once then ill do the sound deadening.

Speakers

i will likely take those pioneers you mentioned:
the rms rating on those matches my 4 channel.

with those pioneers and a 4 channel, can i get rear 6x9s that are 50 watts rms or just leave the rears out? when i fade out the rears i dont really like the sound in my car, or is it just because these are stock speakers running off an old head unit? will the components fill the whole car with sound or just the front? , if you guys recommend just the fronts, shouldn't i get a 2 channel amp then?

Big 3/wiring

i dont know what battery terminals to get from that knukonceptz website , also i dont know what fuse rating i should get for this distribution block
