back seat removal difference? - Toyota Yaris Forums

For all you who have taken the backseat out of the LB is the a real noticeable difference? all I've seen is to take it out you have to take out the rear floor trim is there a way to do it WITHOUT takin the all out? or would'nt look/work right?

I removed just the seat in my 09 LB and left the rear stuff in place. The rear deck thing is firm in its place and doesn't require the rear set to be still. Its just a few bolts and a clip here and there for the bottom cushion and out she comes. I also left the black frame thing in place, but it can be removed as well. Hope this helps :)

it helps a lil bit but just to make sure we're talk about the same piece staying on. I'm talking about the thing that goes over the spare tire. have you noticed any difference?

I'm not sure if you have a 60/40 seat, but I'm planning on taking the 60 seat out. It would look pretty sweet to just have the 40 seat back there.

My plan is to have the three remaining seat (driver, passenger, rear 40) replace with racing seats. I won't be installing racing seats until my little Yaris get either a Turbo or Supercharger installed.

Racing seats in a 100 hp car that gets beaten by soccer moms in their suv just wouldn't seem right.

LT Noogie has the rear 40 in his car. Kinda cool. The rest of it is gutted (stripped) out.

you can put the spare wheel cover back on afterward, if I recall it is wedged into place by the two plastic bins on each side of the spare. Mind you, that's with the full bench seat, no idea about the 60/40

I removed my 60/40 awhile back leaving the part that covers the spare (didn't need to remove to take seat out). Even removed the spare but thought better of it. I have the tray that sits on top of the spare cover and fab'd up some brackets to hold it in place or to keep it from sliding forward. Does the car go faster? Dunno, but it's lighter and I don't carry anybody anyway.

I noticed a lot more road noise and awkward, slanted cargo space. So mine are back in now. :)

yeah I have the 60/40 in the back. So I can take it out without takin the whole spare tire well assembly out then? And actually Klink that's why I want to do it, it's usually just me in the car. I know I've seen something awhile back on what all I need but to save a lil time what all would I need to do this?

A metric socket set and 30 minutes.

Q......metric socket set and the star type sockets. If I remember right I picked up those stars at Northern Tool. They come like 6-7 a set in a plastic holder. Just use your ratchet with them. Depending on how clean underneath your car is you might find the ends that protrude thru the floor may be rusted/dirty....get some PB blaster or WD 40 (NAPA) squirt/soak and slowly remove. Gonna need a fair amount of oooommmmph but do it slow so not to snap or strip. I don't think I forgot anything....ifin I did holler back.

Hm.. I don't have the 60/40 but I didn't need any "star sockets." Just a 12mm and a 10mm if I remember correctly. I just did mine a few weeks back to pick up a loveseat in it.

On mine I did (but now that I think about it those might have been where the seat belts were affixed to the floor). Pic shows bracket(s) I fabbed up to hold board cushioned with BMW floor mats from car I detailed. Until something more permanent. While I'm at it if you'll notice between the seats in the console there is a change holder from a Scion TC that holds my garage/shop door opener perfectly. It fits there real nice. Just in case anybody asks.

I took it all out. The rear of the car sits higher, and i think the car handles a little better.

I hate that uneven rear floor. I wish they made it flat, would have been so much better.

Me too. Could build something to even it all out and somewhere on the forum someone did. But I think it would defeat the whole purpose of weight savings.

I mite take a look at the bolts. right now I run with 'em folded flat, it's ok but I'm still kinda up in the air. how uneven is it w/o the seats? where is the uneven part where the seat used to be?
