Manual Transmission Intermittent Problem - Toyota Yaris Forums

Resently I've been having so trouble with my transmission but it has been intermittent. The yaris has 213000km or 132352mi. 80% highway driving. I've changed the fluid every 80000km, when I changed it the first time I switched to amsoil, and have been good since. All the parts are orignial from 2006 when I first got the car.

Now the problem. Every once it a while cold or hot outside or if the fluid is hot or cold, first time in the morning or late in the day. The car will have a hard time coming out from first or third no matter how hard I press on the clutch. Or it will grind from first to second, or hard to put into third, but it will never do the both at the same time. Also it will do it a few time on a road trip but never back to back, maybe and 1hour or more before it happens again. Then nothing for the rest of the trip.
Now is this the clutch or the transmission that is going? Or something else, like the cable, or maybe the fluid needs to be changed sooner.
Thanks any ideas would be helpful.

classic clutch issues-most likely related to the hydraulic operational parts of the clutch since it happens depending on temperature. Slave cylinder may be leaking-not an uncommon issue with the mileage you have and it is a heavy wear item.
