Electronic key not working / car not starting

Hello there,

New to these parts / and also DIY car maintainence so really hoping for some inspiration / help if that is ok!

I went to open my Yaris yesterday and the electronic key was dead. I opened it manually but when I went to turn over the ignition there was nothing. Tried lights - nothing.

I am thinking initially that it may be the battery - but then wondered if some connection between key not working and the car not turning over at all.

Could this be that I need to reset key or electrics?

Id appreciate any help you can offer - Id love to be able to try a few things out before having to try getting it to garage.

Thanks in advance,

Jo

Most probably a dead battery.

You can hold your FOB in front of the start button.. i think the light will flash and you will be able to start your car.

With the engine immobilizer the starter will still crank, even when the transponder key is not recognized, so it does sound like a dead battery.

Cheers!

Hoping to get a jump start to get me to the garage or find a cheap battery charger to get me out the blocks so I can go get it fixed.

Thanks
