Need some help from lighting experts
Hi guys,
I own a Vitz '06 and I was thinking of replacing my stock headlights with after market projector lights. I checked out few online which I liked and asked one of the dealer about their compatibility. They said that the lights were compatible with 3 door hatchbacks only and not the 5 door version; I want to know is there any difference in the headlight fittings between 3 DR and 5 DR models? Shouldn't they be the same as they are the same year model (2006)? |

@Lambros - Thats my thoughts exactly. There is no difference between the 3DR and 5DR models. Especially when it comes to things like headlight fittings.
That dealer's reply really made me confused. |

Yea, what IllusionX said.
The difference is the mounting point on the radiator support bracket. Those are different. The 06-08 headlights go straight down on the inside from the hood to the bumper. The 09-11 go straight front the hood until it gets to the bumper, then they kinda bent towards the middle. I will say, Most projector headlamps are for the 06-08. Look at this guys headlamps in the first post http://yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49903 And compare mine on post #4 http://yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32516

Actually, on my thread, if you go to post #21, you can see where I got my 08 C-one front bumper on and I had to buy different headlights and a bracket for them

Yes Dark Paw is right. The question is I have a 5 door hatchback 2006 model and most projector headlights being offered online say for 3 door hatchback 2006 model.
I asked another dealer he also replied that it won't fit on 5 door. I really don't understand the issue between 3 door and 5 door. As the front of both are the same so are the fittings. |

Looks like Bueller activated some sort of plugin that automatically moderates some images. There's been tons of false positives so far, including this one. Sorry for the trouble guys!

Is your question still the 3dr vs 5dr issue? If so, there is no difference and you are safe to buy. The problem with the online sites is most of the ones you'll come across are based in the United States. The 2006 5dr was not available in that market and therefor the model will not show in any fitment specs.
