Oil Recommendations
Just seeing what you guys think.
I live in south Louisiana, so it's quite hot most of the year, so please take that into account. What type and weight of full synthetic do you guys recommend and why? Keep in mind my climate, the fact that I'm switching from conventional, and that I plan on running at least 7,500 miles on each oil change. Thanks. |

oil changes
Hi, I live in far northern california, where it gets hot, 100+ for weeks at a time, but not like Phoenix. I run Mobil 1 5w20 and change every 10k miles. My Yaris has 81k on it. If you are worried about that length of time, change your oil filter every 5k, and the oil every 10k. Been doing this in Hondas, Subarus, and Toyotas for years without ill effects.

The Pennzoil conventional 5w-30 is a very good oil . Go here for details , http://www.pqiamerica.com/Pennzoil.htm . The Shell full synthetic 5w-30 does well too . Can be bought for $3.17 a quart at BJs Wholesale . Here's the sale , http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39863 . Here's a few used oil analyises of the Pennzoil conventional 5w-30 and SHELL synthetic 5w-30 ( 5w-20 included ) from our '08 sedan , http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38135 . Here's a virgin oil analysis for the SHELL conventional 5w-30 that's $2.17 a quart at BJs Wholesale , http://www.pqiamerica.com/ShellFormula.htm . Now using SHELL synthetic 5w-20 and will be changing oil soon to the SHELL synthetic 5w-30 for summer and then back to the Shell synthetic 5w-20 for those cold days of late fall > early spring . Let us know what you decide on .

That it is . Here's an virgin oil anlaysis for the TOYOTA 5w-30 and MOBIL Super 5w-30 . You'll see they're quite similar . http://www.pqiamerica.com/Janaury%20...lts/toyota.htm and http://www.pqiamerica.com/ExxonMobilSuper5000.htm . |
