I have someone on here who is test fitting a 09 w/ ABS cluster on his 07 non-ABS car....I'll let you know whether it works or not..

But: 08 w/ ABS accepted my RS cluster.
Scott's 08 w/o ABS didnt accept it His 09 with ABS did...

So i highly doubt yours would accept a cluster w/ a tach...speed data won't be sent the same way like it is through the speedometer only cluster~ jus saving you the trouble and money...

But go for it, we already have 2 other guinea pigs on here hahaha

Scott, Anyway to rig up a sedan cluster? How far off is the fit?

I always see those for sale and there super cheap!
The sedan cluster may (?) be the same size, but it mounts differently. It's mounting screws are out on the ends, rather than out in front. The right connector is the same (pinout and all). The left is a wider connector, but the pin functions are identical.

so maybe it would fit if we could find a way to mount it?

but would it have the issues with the read outs? like say an 07 sedan with an 07 liftback?

I was just looking at sedan cluster pictures on ebay and the sedan one is a very different shape than the LB one.

I hooked it up to my test bench last night and had the same result with making the speedo change but the odo didn't increment. I just need to get to the bottom of the extra bytes in the speed message.

Did your 09 send any additional messages from my RS cluster that could help you out with that? I know you said you were going to try that out in my thread...dont know~

My 09 sent the same data to both its own cluster and to your RS cluster. It's entirely possible that the odo increment data is sent in an entirely different message. I have 11 more messages from the 09 data capture to decipher.

Scott - what about starting a new thread keeping us informed on the progress and release of the Yargauge? It seems like the best answer for so many of us who want a tach but within the confines of the existing OEM cluster setup (i.e. not a separate tachometer on the dash and don't want to have to mess with the odometer flashing.

This thread on the OZ cluster is about as dead as a doornail.

Maybe for you but not for me. I'm hoping Scott can figure out a way to make the Km/L and gear display work.

sorry Tony- my mistake in wording- I just meant that for all the folks looking for a tach in the cluster it was dead- not dead for everyone.

This thread on the OZ cluster is about as dead as a doornail.

The YarGauge has its own thread that I update.

Lewis, If you don't mind I'll attempt to make the necessary modifications to make the OZ cluster visible to the USDM driver.

Tony, we need to find someone who has a digital cluster that actually displays it. I can send them one of my CAN bus sniffers and walk them through grabbing some data for me.

Based on the reverse engineering that I've done so far on the clusters, I believe that we will find that the ECM does the calculations and sends the message up to the cluster. I just need to figure out the message ID and packet structure of that message, as all of the data needed to do the calculation is already available.

Looks like i'm up shit creek without a paddle then cause it don't work here in Australia or next door in New Zealand..........

All I can find is you tube videos of it working....

Gear Display works

It appears on this one the Km/L works as there is something lit up under the clock

I don't think any of these guys are on the forum and from what I understand the Km/L and Gear display works in Europe and I ain't anywhere near Europe.
