Pillar Gages and Side Airbags

I was thinking about mounting my tachometer on the A-pillar down towards the base of the windshield. However, I have side airbags on my '07 liftback and I don't want to damage them if I use screws to mount the tach. The tack is an Autometer Autogage 3 1/4" tach, and I'm not 100% sure double-sided tape will hold it up.

If I use screws am I likely to ruin any part of the side airbags? How far down do they go?

It's pretty easy to remove your A-pillar paneling, I would pop one off and see where your air bags and their wiring is placed. You may not damage the air bags but you might have to prepare yourself to get jacked in the face with a tach in the case of an accident.

why don't you just pop the a-pillar plastic and see where the airbag goes down to?

I might just do that. I also might just use thick, double-sided tape and mount it to the dash. That way there's no worrying about the side airbags.

However, at this point, the wires on the tach are too short to reach the fuse box or any of the other connections (very short wires!). So, it's off to the hardware store for some more wire and possibly the "add-a-fuse" deal.

Last I remember there is no airbag in the a-pillar. Can't seem to find the picture though....
