Liftback speedometer color change

Has anyone tried to remove the green lines on the speedometer with acetone or something like that? I know you can change the leds on the circuit board but unfortunately that won't change the ugly green lines in between.

I have seen that pic before but the speedo on the 07 lift back is different: only a speedometer and the it starts out white with green lines not solid orange, hence my concern.

If you had the green/white gauge and say that changing the leds to blue works so that it looks all blue that's good enough for me.(still like a pic though if you can manage one)

Off topic but has anyone found a source to get the cluster with speedo/tach that isn't a complete ripoff?

the price wasn't the only issue, the wiring harnesses didn't match up either.
