SCCA Club Racing @ Buttonwillow

Heading up to Buttonwillow this weekend for the SCCA US Majors tour. For the first time since 2012 there will actually be a pair of Yaris on track - our H Prod car and xnamerxx in the B-Spec car.

Nearly 250 cars entered at this point, with more than 50 cars in our heat. Nine entries in H Prod and four in BS.

As always there will be live timing online: http://www.sccahost.com/sccalive/

Schedule: http://www.calclub.com/html/html2/ar...dule-April.pdf

Entry list: http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.c...6#.U1VEdMf7rbs

Event page: http://www.scca.com/events/index.cfm?eid=6726

Yaris, Mazda2 and two Fits -- go Bobby!

Looks like nine or ten in your class, Jason.

Had a busy week, and now in the process of getting the car ready for this weekend. I'll get around to it eventually.

Pulled off the front end last night, got about 3lbs off grass and derbies out of the car. The lower third of the radiator was completely blocked, lucky the car did not get hot. Also repainted the damaged corner of the front bumper. Ready for Buttonwillow now.

You planning on Daytona next year, because that has to be a painful tow.

If I still have the car next year, it might not be a BS car anymore, got some naughty thoughts about an engine build in my head.

It would be a painful tow that I would rather not make, but I have always wanted to run the Daytona 24 - and this is as close as my wallet will let me get. If we have a full program next year we should be able to swing it, but if its on my dime I will likely be spectating.

Yeah I can't imagine I'll be making the trip next year either, as much as I'd like to go, I probably couldn't justify taking the time off for it.

Although speaking of endurance racing, there's always the 25@Thill ;)

I know I'm looking at that if I go to an HP build.

Finally got to watch the Majors tour.

So at 5:20 when a car ahead goes off, you get a nice cloud of dirt that covers the track.
When this happens, how nervous do you get? Do you do it "Days of Thuder" style and pull a Cole Trickle, just floor it and hope that nobody is getting back on track in front of you?

It depends on the race, and the conditions at the time. I could see ok, and knew I had some cushion over 2nd place so I lifted, a little. Sometimes you can see what direction the people slid/are sliding, so you know they are not coming back your way.
