Picked up the new Corolla this evening. I'll post up some pictures with my Yaris tomorrow since it's dark out now but I'm pretty happy with my decision so far. Hopefully it'll be like every other Toyota I've owned... rock solid and reliable.

Congrats on the new car. From a core mechanical standpoint, it seems like a well-thought out, balanced car. Did you go manual or automatic?

I got the automatic. It made me sad to go that way but for driving in Chicago style traffic a manual sucks. Besides, I have two stick Yarii and a stupid hard to find V6 5 speed Chrysler LeBaron convertible to drive around when I want to shift myself.

Here's a picture of mine. Had the side moldings installed today at the dealer. I did the same with my black yaris when I bought it too, makes it stand out more. But so far I'm really enjoying this thing.

Nice; I think the car looks great, congrats. I'd happily drive one. As others have mentioned, it could have afforded to come with a little more power. Also, the fact that it's a hatch/wagon offered in manual and you didn't take them up on it hurts my soul quite a bit, but I can understand your reasoning.

Enjoy the hell out of her!

Dude, me too! It killed me to pay extra for the automatic as well but... you know... life and stuff. But at least I got the two Yarii and the LeBaron to shift myself. If I was going to completely give up taxi and was in a bit better health then I would have gotten the manual for sure.

Anyone know if they offer panoramic sunroof option for the base model manual trim?

Don't know about Australia, but here in the US there is no sunroof option.

Was reading some user comments today under a professional 2019 Corolla hatch review on some website, and one guy indicated that he had purchased an XSE & the engine was found to be defective after a short time of driving it, and Toyota was shipping in a whole new engine replacement from Japan as a result. That doesn't bode well.

Well, it's under warranty for 50,000 miles so hopefully there's nothing wrong with it! I just put 600 miles on it going to St. Louis and back with zero issues. It was very comfortable and pleasant for that trip.

I don't think there's ever been a car made that didn't have recalls and some outlier, total failures. Hopefully it's not a widespread issue.

Good Morning Ric,

I have been trying to get in contact with you, but unfortunately the number given below are incorrect. We do not offer panoramic sunroof for all corolla models. But there are plenty more amazing features that these new range of corolla offer. Please get in contact with myself so I can run you through these features and more details about our new corolla.

Kind Regards,

Well, I did something crazy today. I bought ANOTHER Corolla hatchback. A blizzard pearl or whatever the hell they call white-ish SE model with a manual transmission. The dealer offered me 11 grand for my 2016 Yaris (which I paid $12,300 for when I bought it a year and a half ago) and also offered me a grand for my 1985 Chrysler New Yorker so I said the hell with it and took them up on it. So now I have two of these things and I pray they turn out to be reliable good cars.

The best part though... no stupid ass throttle lag. It's one of the reasons I really didn't drive my 2016 Yaris much because it was annoying especially after coming from the 2007 that doesn't lag for whatever reason or my LeBaron or whatever else.

But yeah, had a max of 5 Yarii... now we're down to just two. The project autocross 2007 hatchback my daughter and I work on together and my wife's 2012 L 5 door. I feel pretty sad about giving up my car but... it does no good if I don't really enjoy driving it.
