i returned that HU like 5 days after making this post. I got sick of it disabling the control of the ipod on the ipod itself... it takes forever to scroll for songs on the HU..

i went out and bought a touch screen in dash dvd for 100 more.. check my garage you'll see the new pics and what i have done since..

That's the only down side to a HU like this. I've heard the 500UB allows you to use the iPhone as the controller....we'll see.

When I was on these forums last, I was installing my 5.25" Polks in the front and my 6x9 Polk's in the back....a little elbow grease and a hacksaw later, I have 6x9's in the back. Now I'm finally finishing up my install with this head unit, an additional amp to power the speakers and a sub/amp.

(but really, I'm looking to do a CarPC in the long run......shhh, don't tell my wife)

I'm hoping to add the pictures of my install to my garage once I'm done.

I like what you've done with your car since I've been here. I haven't been here in a long while and it looks like they had a server crash, is that right?

yeah the site was attacked and we lost a bunch of stuff.. this i reposted after the hack .. so its pretty much up to date

as far as a car PC .. you could get a mac mini .. they are super small and you can get them rather cheap.. then get a cheap indash dvd and throw the video into it.. :)..idk if a touch screen would work with it though.. maybe

Tinygiant could you have fit another sub and an amp in there? Like so....

And about how much mounting depth is there?

think it was about 7.5" max

I could have fit another sub if i wanted to.. one 10" is MORE than enough

everyone considering needing two subs should hear this thing.. if you want everyone outside of the car to hear you sure go with more subs.. but the single 10" can easily be deafening if you set the levels right.

Do you have any pics of how you ran the wires?

TinyGiant is right. I just got done doing this and a 10" is a perfect amount of power for this tiny car. I did have to mess around with my levels, but now my stereo sounds a lot better!

Thanks again for reposting this.

Oh, and my amp is underneath the box as well.

As for wires, I ran power on the passenger side of the car and RCA's down the middle (to the amp for my speakers under my passenger side) and down the driver's side (to the amp for the sub in the trunk).

I was actually wondering how he ran them into the box. Like if he cut out a hole and rubber sealed it or put a metal terminal and sealed it.

Totally feeling the giant carved-out Toyota logo

If you want, you could punch it out a little more by painting over just the logo itself a frosty translucent white, then mounting a few green LEDS under the logo so it glows at night.

Got the idea from my computer fan

Great job so far

I drilled out a hole for a terminal. I still need to glue it in though.

I just kept taking more out of the hole with my jigsaw until the terminal fit snuggly.

next I might switch the lighting over to blue too.. lol

I painted the speaker grills on the front doors the same blue and plan to do the grills on the rear the same too.. I painted the access pannels for the tail lights the same blue.

next i plan to find a way to paint a ring around the front side vents in the same blue. then i should be done with painting. other than I really want to do the bezel around the shifter in the same blue.

we'll see how ambitious i get.

I really hope i get my c-one replica hood back soon :)
