I guess the air bags not going off is a safety feature...?

Nice! That's not bad at all! Also you can even salvage the wheels and other stuff, so you'll probably get close to 11k back (spoiler, lips, headlights?, Fogs?

yea, unless you specifically ask them, and they specifically allow you too, once they pay you, an insurance company keeps everything.

Bummer you lost the car, but it's probably for the best. I wouldn't want mine back if it took that much a hit. Grats on near $10K though! That's quite a deal. Not sure I'd stay in the family for that.

Odd they've decided to total it. My cars been smashed up twice in front, and $8k in damages from fireworks, and mine keeps getting fixed by the insurance.

I'm glad they decided to total it- you should at least get your rims and tires back, especially if you have the stock ones to put back on. They aren't giving you extra for them so they are like property- check it out
My airbags didn't deploy when I hit the deer that ran in front of me at 30 mph, so i guess it's adaptive electronics- I had 6k worth of damage, but i think you need to factor in metro ny prices

Just as a general question... If the stuff I've put into the Yaris gets damaged, will it be covered by insurance if totaled? Or stolen? I have like $2000+ in audio equipment and the clazzios in my yaris.

only if u claim it to ur insruance company when u install it. which would cause ur cost to go up also.
