Question about painting Calipers and Drums
ok so im thinking of painting the calipers Red, should i leave the drums black or paint to match?
Second i noticed the calipers arent smooth, what would be the best way to smooth out? sanding/grinding down? can body filler be used? Al always all suggestions appreciated

I'd leave the drums black.. And just sand the calipers... body filler will fall off in about a day of heat and vibration

Even the special ceramic caliper paint might give you problems. Did all the prep work (to newly purchased calipers) and let it dry for days before put into use, still tended to chip easily and go soft if it made contact with brake fluid. Did this with one of my cars and had nothing but little headaches.

Mine was a complete Krylon caliper prep and paint (brush) kit. Looked real sweet but had to do constant touch-ups. Maybe it was on the shelf too long, or they've improved them within the last 5 years.

kept mine drums black, have the calipers red as well. I didnt even sand mine. Just cleaned them VVVEERRYy well and sprayed (Krylon Caliper Paint) turned out great. About 2 months now and no chipping flaking or fade.
http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/sho...ally+good+pics not great pictures but it will give you the idea of what red fronts with black rear looks like

I just did my calipers last Saturday. I would not go through the trouble of sanding them. You'll just drive yourself nuts for something which is only apparent when seeing them up close. My thinking is that the rough texture also provides added tooth for the paint to adhere to. I've got 6 coats of Dupli-Colour on. Now have to wait and see how durability holds out. Fingers crossed.
Only pic of them that I have at the moment.
