Thieves pinching parts from cars at Mt. SAC
Hmmm...interesting. this is where my sister goes. maybe this is why the P0420 light is on. haha...christ. whats wrong with people?
By Tribune Staff on February 9, 2009 2:09 PM Dirty, rotten thieves have been crawling underneath cars in broad daylight on the parking lots of Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut and stealing expensive parts from the exhaust systems. Toyota trucks have been the primary target. School officials say it takes the thieves only 2 or 3 minutes to unbolt the catalytic converters and run. The parts are desired by thieves because of the valuable metal they contain. Anyone who sees anything funny is asked to call the college's Public Safety office at (909) 594-5611, ext. 4555. |

There is a kit that has cables to make it look harder to remove them. It might make someone look at it and move on to the next car.

its old news.. they have been doing it for years... the platinum inside the converter makes them worth money on the black market...

Converter thieves around here use a Sawzall to cut it out of the pipe. Takes seconds. They hit a lot of trucks parked while deer hunters are in the woods. They got the converter off my church's big Ford van.

We just had 2 kids get arrested for hitting our local Toyota dealership and trying to steal them off brand new trucks. They got about 13 off before they were caught.
