Question When to do fluid changes?

I have a 2008 Yaris with auto trans. My Toyota dealer and the manual state that I should have major fluid change at 60,000 miles. I bring the vehicle in for an annual checkup. But I have not put any where near that mileage on the vehicle. Now that it is 6 model years old...should I insist that the trans and brake fluid along with the antifreeze be flushed and changed?

I would at least do a antifreeze check-up based on where you are.

^^^^^ This. (other than oil/filter changes, the only fluid related thing I've done is (1x) add part of a bottle of coolant/anti-freeze)

The Toyota Canada Maintenance Menu states to change your automatic transmission fluid every 96,000 Km (60,000 miles), your Coolant at 128,000 Km (80,000 miles) and then every 64,000 Km (40,000 miles) after that.
I am not sure about the American Maintenance Menu but it is more lenient about changes than the the Toyota Canada Maintenance Menu.

At six years old, definitely get all the fluids changed. Brake fruid is known to absorb moisture and has to be changed every 2-3 yrs.
You don't want things getting corroded and further contaminated by old fluids. No question about it, change everything if you want your car to last.

Perhaps as an ideal, but what are the consequences if you don't (IMO, it's about reasonable prudence re safety combined with cost benefit)? I've driven well over 1 million miles (including 4 cars from new to over 150k miles) and I've never changed the brake fluid on any of them. IIRC, I've also never caused the rotors to need replacement nor resurfacing either. I think how a person drives and where they live/operate the vehicle = significant input re how much the above is needed to avoid significant consequences. Given the OP's location relative to either of ours, I think the OP might suffer 'dire consequences' before either of us would. If I lived where the OP does, and drove differently than I do, I might follow your recommendation.
