How much oil?

I have a 2007 Yaris Sedan with Auto trans. I'm changing the OEM transaxle oil to Amsoil. How may quarts does it use? 3 or 4?

NOT the Engine oil, the transaxle oil.

If you just drain it via the drain plug you will only get less than 2 of the 6 quarts out. If you also drain the tranny cooler portion of the radiator (by removing the hose clamps and pulling the rubber hoses off the metal nipples of the radiator) you will get another 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart.

Unless you pull the valve body and torque converter you are only doing about a 50% change with the amsoil.

From the spec document on the U340E transaxle:

Fluid Capacity Liters (US qts, Imp.qts) 6.4 (6.78, 5.63) (including differential)

BTW, I also plan on changing the Transmission filter.

The reason why I asking is because I have a 1997 Toyota RAV4, 5 speed. I installed an oil cooler and it works for both, the axle and the gear box.

Which means the transmission and the axle work independent from each other? Am I correct? Which Amsoil oil does the axle uses?

The Yaris automatic is a transaxle, which means it's an all in one unit. I am not sure on the amsoil AT Fluid. Toyota only recommends genuine Toyota ATF WS.

AMSOIL recommendations page for the Yaris is as follows:

https://www.amsoil.com/mygarage/vehi...TOYOTA+YARIS+L

The part number for the fluid you are asking about is ATLQT-EA and can be found here:

https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produ...?code=ATLQT-EA

I have been using AMSOIL fluids in my Yaris now for going on 2 years and have been very happy so I think that you will be too. I put the moving parts through some tough conditions, rpms, and temps. I have been an AMSOIL dealer now for almost the same amount of time that I have been using their products and haven't had anyone come back to complain yet either. If you aren't going through someone local and want to discuss your options just shoot me a PM. I would rather someone be informed and make the right choices for them then just make a quick buck so try to be as honest and straight forward as possible, sometimes to a flaw.

I really appreciate your answers. I've only dealed with my 5 speed RAV4. This is the first time I work with my wife Yaris.

But the most important one, no one has said anything.

If I change the transmission oil, which is a trans-axle; I understand that the transmission AND the axle work together. Meaning both oils will be drained when I do the transmission. Or does the axle have a separate drain plug.

Not even on the Amsoil link above say, it just says "Not Specified". How many quarts do I need? 4? I already have three quarts ready. Will I need one more or two more Quarts.

There is not a separate drain plug. Three quarts should be fine.
