What would you guys buy?!
I'm looking to purchase a new car. I'm deciding between a Mazda speed 3 and a Subaru WRX/STI. I have done research and from everything I've read the speed 3 seems to be the best bang for the buck with another plus is the 0% APR. Though I really like the body styling of the WRX/STI, more aftermarket parts and AWD. What do you guys think?!?

If it's bang for the buck you're looking for and those were the two choices, I'd choose the Mazdaspeed3 also. But personally, I hate the new smiley-face design on the whole Mazda line. I prefer the older model Mazdaspeed3. :) just my 2cents.

How about the new Mustangs?
But if it has to be between the two, I'd go with the WRX or STi. At least that can hold its power better (torque steer of the MS3), can take it to the snow, and like mentioned above, I hate that smiling Hitler look. |

For sure. But just to be a buzz kill, talk with your insurance agent before you buy. If that concerns you at all. Rates?

speed3 is a cool car, and you can do a lot with either, but the choice depends on whether or not you NEED awd.
I have an 07 wrx (before they changed the body style - I prefer 07 lol). I got it because its the fastest, most reliable car I can afford that I can drive 12months out of the year. I would love GTO or something, but we get snow here (over 12" several times last year). neither of these cars is cheap to mod. Subaru MUST be tuned for essentially all power mods or you'll blow it up. I love mine, and would'nt trade it for the world! |

go for the WRX. the suspension of the STI is just too stiff for most people for a DD. also, your insurance/maintenance costs are gonna be much lower with the WRX.

I'm going to say Mazdaspeed3. I've reviewed both vehicles:
Mazdaspeed3: http://www.subcompactculture.com/201...d-3-great.html WRX STI: http://www.subcompactculture.com/201...a-wrx-sti.html Both were great. Both are fast (STI is faster). However, the interior of the 3 felt nicer. I've already got an AWD and 4WD vehicle, and wouldn't need another.

STI! the 2011+ non-hatch model. I went from yaris to VW R32 (liked awd) and if i had to do it over again for the price, id be all over an sti. mazda speed 3 is still front wheel drive. if you want something faster, fun with a lot of room for improvement, go STI. if you want something cheaper that you don't care about beating around, mazda.
stay away from wrx imprezas though |
