I remember reading warnings about loss of odometer reading can occurs when the car's battery is disconnected. Warnings to involve the dealer when disconnecting the car's battery. The dealer can handle reprogramming the odometer when the battery is reconnected. So my guess is if you replace the gages and the new odometer reading is wrong, take the vehicle to the dealer and have the odometer reprogrammed with the correct odometer mileage.

here is the final verdict!

everything swapped over fine and plugged right up. it WILL need to be programmed though as the miles will NOT carry over. not sure about 08s but thats the case on my 09.

Did you get an 08 or 09 combination meter? Also, what is the part number on the one you received?

i got an 09 cluster. there were no problems installing it at all, it was very easy and took about 10 mins or less and you only need a phillips head screwdriver.. ill take a pic later tonight for you guys and post a pic of the box with the P/N.

Interesting. The 09 service manual doesn't mention anything about reprogramming. In the replacement procedure it does mention disconnecting the battery (but then again it does for replacing anything electrical).

You may want to try for the heck of it disconnecting the negative battery cable for a couple of minutes to see if perhaps on a cold boot the ECM and the combination meter do some type of a sync.

You can try just popping the two ECM connectors.
