So this is bad, right?
So before I left for work this morning, I decided to check the tops of the shocks to make sure everything was still tight.
I installed the springs at a friends house with a garage 2 hours away and drove home on the highway afterward. I'm assuming they were probably like this the whole drive home. Is this why the instructions said not to use the same nut from disassembling the shocks to put the new springs on? But I did anyways because I didn't have any other nuts to use... Do I have to re-do the front end and tighten up that nut? |

this gap has been present on all the aftermarket installs that I have seen on here.
I do not believe it matters, however wait before someone more knowledgeable on springs chimes in before you take my advice. |

It's a Canon SD1100IS 8 MP pocket/point and shoot camera. It was $199 when I bought it, it's a bit cheaper now I think. It's a pretty decent little camera, yep. As for the gaps, anyone else have a suggestion? Thanks! EDIT: Ah I didn't see the above reply before I replied. I am at work but I will try that when I get home..I don't have a jack other than the one included with the car from Toyota. I can just lift up one side at a time, yea? |

OK that sounds reassuring. On the drive home everything *felt* normal. Handling was great too.
I'll try what 1NZYaris1 suggested, see if the gap is gone when i take the weight off the shock. I remember when I still had the car up on car jacks after I put the shocks in, there was no gap then. I can't recall if I saw it when I put the car on the ground while I was putting in all the stupid black air ducting crap as I wasn't really looking at the shock caps. When I cut the bump stops, I did them according to what TEIN's instructions said, or at least how I interpreted them. IT said to cut them in manner "A" which was to remove some from the bottom, 1.4 inches. I wasn't sure if they meant the bump stop swere to be 1.4 inches total, or to cut 1.4 inches off. But I marked a line at 1.4 inches from the bottom and started hacking away. I read that it's important not to cut the bump stops too much or you will bottom out the chocks during sharp/fast corners or hitting large bumps at speed, so I figured it was safer to go with the 1.4 cut off...as it wasn't quite half of the whole bump stop. |

Interesting, so maybe I didn't need to waste my energy biking to work this morning! LOL!
I need the exercise anyways. Any idea why this happens? I don't really understand why the top would be pushed up like that. |

I don't know, but I bet when you hit a bump on stock springs it goes up like that. With the shorter springs, it's like there's a pre-load of sorts on the shocks. At least thats my guess...

I have a tiny bit, but hardly anything like the last picture up above. My gap is very minute. I'd say it's just the nature of the lowering beast.
