will full sized tire on rim fit in spare spot on a 2009 hatch??

Got a bad flat this morning and have close to 75k miles on the current set of pirelli P4s. I usually get around 100k miles+ out of a set.

Since the donut is 9 years old and I'm doing a good bit of driving on it today, and I'd rather replace the main tires in a set of 2 as opposed to one brand new tire now and 3 old ones, I was considering getting a 15" steel rim and just keeping the extra pirelli tire on it and sticking it in the spare area. Any idea if it will fit?

It's probably twice as wide as the spare and slightly taller. No doubt it will be heavier - but probably 1000 times better than the space saver and more feasible to drive around on.

It will if you don’t mind the cover bulging up to 3 inches.

I talked to the guy from that thread and he confirmed it would fit with the riser popped out. I'd like to get a steel wheel to put it on in there. I was just going to grab one from discount tire for like $50-60

I checked the Toyota parts website and they want like $130 for one where I live. Not happening... I'm going to try to go to the pull and pay junkyard and grab one, but it looks like the only compatible ones are from specific mid 90s Corollas, and they pretty much never have an actual Yaris to pull from. Anyone know if the 08-11 sedans generally have the same wheels or are they 15"?

Anyway, I just knocked the bracket out of my 2009 hatch. I tried to put a full sized tire in, but it didn't quite fit. It's a snow tire though, so I'm wondering if the heavier tread just barely caused it not to fit.

Pushing against the seat and rear plastic panel

Had to remove the plastic panel to get it fully in there. This panel is what the lid locks into though, so it just kind of sits on top without really being secured in place if you take the panel out. The lid does close completely flat though.

Pardon the hijack for the rust thread. See that big plug inside the tire at the lowest place in the rear body? I had a couple pulled from Tercels, so stored the nice EPDM Yaris original and turned one of the spares into a scupper--a drain--by notching the plug's perimeter at one location.

I had mine removed for a couple weeks since my tail lights leak too. I didn't want any water pooling back there until I silicone / nail polished over the raw metal from removing the bracket. Just waiting for it to get warm so I can redo the tail light gaskets too, then I'm done with Yaris projects... Right?
