Both VSC and ABS lights on

Both lights stay on. There are no codes on the OBDII. How do I troubleshoot this?

I'm sure it does. We have had the car for several years and the lights have only been staying on for about a year. Just now getting around to fixing it. Using the search function I found a post by CTScott? about using a jumper on the diagnostic connector and watching the lights blink. If there are codes in the system you could count the blinks. I haven't tried this yet as I thought the OBDII would read the codes.

you need a dealer level tool that can diagnose ABS codes. Most normal tools cannot do that.

I hadn't thought of that. May be why CTScott suggests using jumpers and looking for the flashing lights to determine the codes. I will have to give it a try.

It seems unlikely that there's a fault and no OBD2 code given that it's the ABS system; maybe if you're using a really basic scanner?

Does the car have a VSC/TRAC button on it to enable/disable? Seems like for some reason the ECM is disabling it - the lights come on to notify the driver that the systems are disabled. Because it's not a fault, no ODB2 codes are set. I would start troubleshooting with the button if you have one or something in the circuit. Loose connection at the ABS unit? I would assume a code then though..

If you do pick-up a Techstream cable just have a read up on them first - the really cheap ones sometime have compatibility issues and don't always support all functions. I've had good luck with the VXDiag cable, but it is more expensive.

Good luck with it, and let us know how you make out.
