That is cool, but otters have been using simple "tools" to eat such foods as sea urchins, crabs, clams, mussels, octopus, fish, and other marine invertebrates for some time!

Of course otters are mammals and not invertebrates, but I would give them credit for being more intelligent (or at least first) over the octopus...

Honestly, with the veined octopus, it makes me think of something from Spongebob Squarepants!

Definitely. I remember hearing that Octopii are by far the most intelligent invertebrates, but probably still below most vertebrates. I've seen other examples of them (Octopii) using problem-solving skills. Pretty cool.

That's really cool. I remember reading somewhere that octopuses have a higher brain to body mass ratio than any other invertebrate, but their life span is only like 2 years, so it never really develops intelligence like it could.
