Purchased a 2014

Sold my beloved 2007 (95000 miles). The car drove like the day I got it. There wasn't a scratch or door ding and the interior was spotless, but unfortunately the clear coat was beginning to seriously delaminate on the roof, mirrors, and front bumper.

Found a like-new 2014 and decided to go for it. The 2014 is a different car with a more Corolla-like driving experience; it has softer suspension and a quieter cabin. The 2007 felt more like a sport car; the 2014 is somewhat refined... but has lost a lot of it's wonderful character. I'm not unhappy with the 2014 after all it's a Toyota.

Anyway, I did a wheel swap between the two cars, and I plan to rebadge as soon as new emblems arrive from Japan. Found a new set of 2015 floor mats (they fit perfectly) on craigslist for just $25. Now, I'm looking for a cargo mat and front mudflaps.

Here are a couple of photos... old and new:

Well, I would have preferred a 2 door, but it isn't available in LE trim in the Western region. Now that I have a 4 door, I rather like it.

Frankly, I've never really cared for the design of the 3rd generation, but it's grown on me. And, because I wanted another Toyota hatchback, there weren't many choices.

Anyway, I'm personalizing my "new" car just a bit and loving it already.

59000 miles today!

After almost 2 years of ownership, my used (ex-rental) is proving to be a great car. Apart from a few mods (wheels/tyres, OEM mud flaps, rear bumper protector, rebadge), I've replaced the battery, front and rear wipers blades, and a few (full-synthetic) oil changes. That's it. No complaints whatsoever. Still love this car.

Speaking of new to you cars, my brother bought his first car today, a 2008 5dr auto grey hatchback in very good mechanical condition. Driving it around, I noticed the steering was way easier and smooth than my 2007 one, and wondering if something getting worn out on mine since it should be the very same parts and wear on both cars. I don't have anything wrong with my steering, it's just heavier than most other cars I drove. I personally don't mind it too much, but I'm curious.

Thinking about installing fender repeaters, but apprehensive about drilling those holes.

I like the small OEM spoiler; otherwise, I'm no fan of spoilers.

Repeaters for the blinkers, same as the mk2 had. Other countries get these as standard equipment.

No idea why the US version deleted these; they are an important safety feature.
