I'm seriously thinking I can get more . I never cracked 65 mph . If I would have been thinking I would have used nuetral on some of those 8% grades .

One of these days ( actually it would take a weekend ) , I'm gonna drive it until it sputters .....Just so there is no speculation on how much a Yaris LB can get on a tank of gas

I've been in cars that pretty much just quit when they ran out. Not much warning in the way of sputtering.

Happened to me last year when I was really pushing it-- Very short stall and that's it. I remember it as a stall because that was exactly what I thought I did until I looked at the gas gauge. If I had only made it over the hump, I would have been able to coast to the gas station 1 mile down (off the freeway).

Does anyone know how many miles you can go on the last bar? My fear of walking has always kept me from going down to the last bar.

When you're on the last bar and you go to the reserve, it starts to flash. I believe it's a one gallon reserve.

I wouldn't run the car until it runs out of gas. I think you will find the fuel pump is in the gas tank and is cooled by the fuel, if you run it out you have a chance of burning the fuel pump out and will be looking at about a 400 dollar repair cost. Just my two cents worth, if you check there are threads with this very discussion and they answer your questions.

So how many people are going to ask about the last bar? It's been talked to death.

It's approximately ONE GALLON when the 2nd to last bar disappears leaving the last blinking bar. So figure 30-40 miles to go. But don't test this.

The last bar...

Howdy folks,

Just thought I'd throw this in as my first "O"-fficial post since joining the group.

In my '09 2-door liftback owner's manual it mentions this about "The Last Bar" and I'll paraphrase.

When you get to the last bar, it begins to blink slowly when there is approx. 1.6 gallons remaining and it begins blinking faster when the level drops to approx. 1 gallon.

Last week I wasn't paying attention to my gas gauge on the way to work and coasted into the parking lot here with the gauge flashing on the last bar. Fortunately I had enough left and was able to get to the gas station on my lunch break.

So... yeah, you'd best be looking for some go-go juice when you get down that far.

S.R.
