The 2015 model is not really that awfully bad looking, though I am much happier with my 2012.

I wish Toyota would make an announcement (Now! ) about the 2015 model. If there is a 2015 USDM Yaris....and it has the same front end as the red one in this thread.....I'll want a 2014. There are only 48 2014 L 5-speed manuals left in the U.S. (with 20 of those being my preference of white or silver) and 7 2014 SE 5-speed manuals (with 3 of those white or silver).

Unfortunately, the choices in Japanese built Toyota's have become quite limited. Most Toyota's sold in the US are built here and in Canada. Financially, it just makes sense to build domestically for Toyota. Good for America, of course, but quality never quite matches Japanese built models.

There's no current plans for a return of the Yaris sedan to the US. Toyota wants you to buy the Corolla.

Yep. I see a lot of 2014 Corollas. It probably doesn't hurt that I'm not too far away from 3 Toyota dealerships...Gullo Toyota, Fred Haas Toyota World, and Fred Haas Toyota Country (and that Fred Haas Toyota World (from what I understand) is the #2 Toyota Dealer in the U.S. (Longo Toyota in El Monte, California is #1)). I like the execution of the 'Fu-Manchu' grille on the Corolla, but not on the Yaris .

problems per 100 vehicles and long term dependability studies have never been better for Toyota, and that's with most U.S. models being made somewhere other than Japan.

It might make people feel good to say there car was made in Japan, but the manufacturing process and philosophy are so well entrenched (not to mention automated) no matter where their cars are built that it doesnt make one spit of difference.

I watched the You Tube link from post #51 on the '2014 Yaris - Made in France' thread when the link was first posted. The level of automation (video location = Toyota plant in France) was almost as extensive as the level I observed during the tour of the Mercedes Benz plant in Alabama last October.

maybe people that still believe the built in Japan cars are of better quality think the robots in Japan are harder working and more loyal than the robots in France.

in fact, I found a video of some French robots: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjPodSgVnP4

there is also the fact that French plants uses French materials.. such as sheet metals and paint.

my former BIL procured supplies for one of the big 3 in Japan. materials for Japanese built cars are most definitely sourced form all over the place. its all about economics. besides, large auto manufacturers order sheet metal and paints to meet their specs, no matter what steel manufacturer they are using. paint is highly government regulated in most countries, especially here, and cars coming here have to have specifically formulated paint (and we know it isn't as good as the old days).

I see no tangible benefit these days of a car being put together inside the borders of Japan vs anywhere else.

Whatever. My opinion is the French people don't have a good work ethic. Canadians are different, I have nothing against them. I'd take an American-made or Canadian-made Yaris over one coming from France.

ummm, ok???....and of course there are no French people in Canada its not like 1/4 of Canadians are French Canadian and have French as their native tongue. maybe the Canadian government is breeding the poor work ethic out of the French Canadians, EH???

aside from your thoughts being a grossly ignorant ethnic stereotype, I will again point out that the manufacturing process is so highly automated and the quality controls for Toyota so well established from plant to plant that the products coming out of every plant are the same.
