POLL!...If you didn't choose the Yaris, what would you have bought instead?

Let's see what people's second choice would've been.

You'll notice that some cars may be from two segments but often overlap in price depending
on options/trims. For example, you can pay more for a loaded Yaris than a base Corolla
even though the Corolla is in the next segment up.

Also, the poll limits me to 10 choices, so here are the most obvious alternatives. If there is something
else you considered, please mention it!

I put serious consideration into the Caliber myself even though it's a Dodge with traditionally risky quality. The Caliber, so far, has proven to be Dodge's most trouble free vehicle though. And it had the lifetime powertrain warranty at the time too. Great styling and practicality were strong points but the Yaris won me over.

Didn't actually choose the Yaris, it was chosen for me while I was in the process of looking.. I wouldn't have considered the Yaris or any of those.

During my looking I determined I most likely would have went with:
1) used 08 Malibu
2) used ss cobalt
3) HHR
4) light SUV
5) midsize sedan
6) fullsize truck
.... BUT if I was forced to choose out of the list above it would have been the caliber

When my Yaris got rear ended in October this year, I went to Enterprise and was given a few choices: A Chevrolet Cobalt, and two Dodge Calibers. One of which was labled, "sexy orange." I chose that one LOL

I didn't like it, but I wanted to try something that I would never step foot in.

If anything I would have gotten the Honda Fit, if it weren't for its price tag.

I considered it only because I really wanted an orange car and the local dealership was willing to give it for cheaper than a Yaris Sedan...

I don't get it. Why was it chosen for you? Wife? Isn't this your car?
Sounds like the Yaris is something you don't like.

I'm so glad they call it Fit in America. Naming it after bad music doesn't make any sense.

"Fit" is perfect as it fits everything in it while also fitting everywhere. It just fits.

When I was in the market to buy a car last summer I was given the Yaris by my mother. She saved me from going deeper into debt as I'm currently a college student. I plan to give her back the car when I graduate and secure a job.

As for liking it, it just doesn't meet the things I look for in a vehicle. It does exactly what it claims to do, those just arent the things I'll want a vehicle that I keep for a long period of time to do. While I have it I'll make the best of it though!

WOW, that is a STRONG statement!!!

Don't forget that alot of people don't agree with that statement and the name isn't about the music.

I know. But in America, "Jazz" is pretty synonymous with the music. We don't really use the word for anything else. The Fit is marketed mostly to young people, and most young people don't like the music.

I was considering a Mini Cooper but the price was to high and the fuel mileage too low.
If I wasn't commuting 120 miles a day I would have certainly bought a Cooper S.

Probably a Fit, but that was if I couldn't get financing I wanted with Toyota. Even with the price difference.

Was considering a 1st gen xB, but the prices for decent mileage ones in my area were only a couple $1,000 less than a brand new Yaris, so decided to go brand new rather than used.
