aftermarket air conditioner unit

I disconnected the AC pulley a long time ago on my 07 hatch. Dirt had beat up the pulley bearing and the whole unit squealed like hell. I put a short belt on there and that was that.
I could use some AC now in the southeast.... can I get an electric air unit that is smaller
and less capable but still useful???? something that you wire to the battery and at least
cools the cab a few degrees..?? anyone know about this..?? I dont really want to buy another stock unit..
unless there is an aftermarket small unit that is cheap and easy to install.

It would probably be a lot cheaper to get a used compressor from a junkyard. An aftermarket AC system would be much more expensive and a lot more work to install than the replacement compressor would be.

There are some complete alternatives that have been developed for the electric car and RV markets. Here's an example.
