aftermarket air conditioner unit
I disconnected the AC pulley a long time ago on my 07 hatch. Dirt had beat up the pulley bearing and the whole unit squealed like hell. I put a short belt on there and that was that.
I could use some AC now in the southeast.... can I get an electric air unit that is smaller and less capable but still useful???? something that you wire to the battery and at least cools the cab a few degrees..?? anyone know about this..?? I dont really want to buy another stock unit.. unless there is an aftermarket small unit that is cheap and easy to install. |

It would probably be a lot cheaper to get a used compressor from a junkyard. An aftermarket AC system would be much more expensive and a lot more work to install than the replacement compressor would be.
There are some complete alternatives that have been developed for the electric car and RV markets. Here's an example. http://www.swampy.net/index.html

Yea I am pretty sure I have seen some compressors for our cars on ebay and they werent too expensive.. Like CTScott said, thats a cheaper route, probably easier too than what you were talking about..
