And definitely NO, the Yaris is NOT "stable above 90 MPH." The front springs are 10% stiffer on the SE. The shocks are the unchanged.

With an unnecessarily high stock ride height, high engine position, high battery location, high seating position, high roofline (yet with no legroom and a barely adjustable non-telescoping steering wheel), short front control arms, archaic transverse torsion beam rear suspension with NO anti-roll bar, garbage all-season no-traction constantly chirping Turanzas, delayed electronic assist steering (with less assist, yet lower steering ratio on the SE), and 70% of the vehicle's weight over the two front wheels, and no major changes since 2005, the (2012) stock Yaris is hardly "stable" at anything above 40.
You're joking!

Nice threads about speed and how we must drive the wheels off this model. I've gotten mine '13 up to 80mph. To my home to work, there's no good stretch to get mine past the posted highway speeds! My mods as far as performance wise is on the back burner. Searching for a place to live IS way more important!!

You're*

I know my impressions regarding the car differ from some but definitely not all people on this forum, although it's probably echoed (ahem) by every Yaris owner who's NOT on this forum. You're right, the Yaris isn't my flavor. But it was cheap and starts up every time - except the times when it doesn't start. But it has always started the SECOND time cranking.

I'll add that the car started experiencing clutch judder at around 4000 miles. Really, Toyota? With only 103 ft/lbs. (claimed @ 4200 rpm) of torque, and essentially nonexistent torque at ~1500 rpm, how cheap does a clutch plate have to be for this to happen on a new car that only weighs 2300 lbs?

Still looks better than a Fit, though. And I do like the gunmetal sparkly-gray SE wheels.

No, those are the facts. It's possible that Toyota thought the car was going to be driven by ushanka-wearing orangutans; You have to be shorter than 5'10" as per the up-close pedals, lack of legroom and non-telescoping steering wheel, with the just-out-of-reach notchy long-throw shifter, but with enough headroom to be wearing two cats on your head even with the high seat.

I am almost 6'3" and drive it fine and comfortably. As for the stability over 90 mph no econobox is designed to be stable over those speeds. He'll plenty of midrange and even a couple luxury sedans I have driven were a bit iffy over 85. It doesn't take a lot of modifications to make the car stable over those speeds. I feel the car is perfectly fine even at 120+ until around 126 before it felt floaty. Adding the underpanel kit fixes the issues pretty well since it causes the chassis to suck to the tarmac.

Good info how fast this car can go but where I live. There's no good stretch to get it up past 100. The fastest I've gotten my '13 is 80. I wouldn't mind take it to a drag strip and see what it can do as far as speed is concerned.

I've been faster through the turns at Bristol than in my Yaris, although, that was in a Petty driving experience when I did 12 laps. In the 90's, 92 was what I glanced at once, but probably around 96 for me.

I've done 115 Todd's in mine easy. But consider this that I only do this on open highway with no one in site.

I know my car well enough. But with acold air intake, and rear seats taken out. Hitting 80 mph is a breeze, 100mph is also easy but I know it starts to shudder past 100mph. Come tax time though I'm gonna get the rest of my suspension and handling along with wheels and a few minor upgrades to get my daily.

I don't think the strip will be long enough...

I travel 70 miles each day and move along at 80mph for about half of that...handles great.

However, all I can say to these dudes on the links below...go for it man!

I also reached almost 115mph, and it still felt way more comfortable than the Jimny I rode once as a passenger doing 80mph (which sounded like short before final disintegration at 90mph).
On a 370mi travel some days ago, I did most of the time 90, and I didn't notion any suspicious vibrations.
Of course, I'm always aware of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmRkPyuet_o when I'm doing more than 50mph.

102 mph, engine mods are cold air intake, 4-1 headers, and muffler delete.

117 is possible, I did it once, but it was down hill with a tail wind and perfect air conditions to make the most power with what I have. Plus some angry driving. I haven't been able to do it again, the speed limiter of 115 kicks in so it wont let me play that again.
