Damn, 1200 lbft! My 3/4" breaker bar warns that it will shatter over 800 lbft... LOL!
I think I'll leave the area open and see how it goes. If I see any stress happening, I'll probably bring it to a professional welder to patch it up---I don't trust myself on structural welding. :) |

I've had the exact same problem. Ended up mustering enough courage to buy a welder, practice a bit and then weld the now-freed captive nut to be able to unbolt the lower control arm. Worked flawlessly. I tried to close the hole and weld it back, but it turned out to be a bit difficult to pry the metal back into position, so I chose to leave it as-is. |
