Exclamation Intermittent fault with starting

I have a 2005 hatch, and I've been having intermittent problems with starting. Sometimes it wont start first go and struggle to turn over, even though it really tries. There used to be a pattern to it but now It's just random.

There is also error codes coming up for the camshaft position sensor, VVT oil control solenoid, and a third sensor on the underside of the engine which I've forgotten the name of at the moment, but there's also no pattern to it and they'll just pop up, most of the time without an engine light.

Has anyone had this issue or something similar?

how old is the battery?..a bad battery can cause the starting issue and in turn the low voltage and slow rotation can cause those codes....
