An update: after the wipers finally kicking the bucket for good, I decided to pull the motor and take a peek. Upon disconnecting the 5 wire harness clip from the motor assembly I noticed the harness side of the clip wasn't looking too fresh. The pin on the wiper motor side of the clip associated with the large black wire was completely corroded away. A trip to the bone yard yeilded a motor assembly complete with wire harness, from a very similar car with lower km. I decided to pull all the pins from the clip, clean them up, apply some dielectric grease, and swap in the cleaner clip I got with the used motor. I installed the new used motor with the newly rebuilt connector and everything seems to be working great.

So if anyone else is having this problem, check the connector to the wiper motor. There may be some corrosion inside the clip preventing a solid connection, or in my case a completely dissolved pin.

I have somewhat similar problem too. My Yaris is from 2008 and this winter (2015/16) my front wipers stopped working. The fuse was replaced and everything went back to normal ... until it got colder again. Few days ago I think I found the source of the problem. It seems some drainage holes got clogged by "stuff" and water is building up under the front windshield and in winter the rotors get frozen inside and stop working until engine is hotter (15-30min for me).
That's my guess for now. Soon I will try to disassemble stuff under the front windshield as this is as much as I managed to do in 15min

Anyone have seen some photo step by step instructions for it? I'm new to this and this forum and not speaking natively in english so I might have missed it.

Also some lubrication for rotors should be applied I think as they were submerged in water for quite some time. What should I use? WD40 would be enough?

2007 Yaris Sedan -- wipers slowly died after a few weeks where they would work at 2 of the 4 speeds and at a much slower speed than intended per speed setting. The washer sprayer works fine.

So, could this be a fuse, the switch (in the steering wheel column), or the motor itself?
Does the same motor operate the sprayer and the wipers?

CTScott indicated fuse 3 might be the place to start, will do that tomorrow. But was curious how the washer works but not the wipers.

1. checked fuses #3 and #5, both ok
2. bought replacement steering wheel wiper switch, installed it, no luck!
3. noticed some grease on the white plug to the wiper switch, cleaned it, put plug back in but still no luck.
4. will have to buy a replacement motor and see if that helps.

this is weird. I could have sworn the switch was the problem as it did nto die suddenly but slowly -- one speed worked, not the others, then another worked but not the others. All this time, the sprayer worked perfectly.

installed a new motor which resolved the problem. Purchased the brand new motor for only $46.09 from Ebay, no taxes and free shipping. What a deal. They assured it was a brand new motor, not refurbished, and it worked perfectly.

This Youtube video was invaluable, the Yaris setup is the same. Be sure to get the metal flap straight (attaches to motor main screw) when finalizing the install.
