This has actually been posted previously afaik. I could be way off too, but I thought that the lady became a member and was talking about it. Might be confused with a different forum, but don't think so.

There are many reasons why an airbag may not deploy in a crash. There have been a couple of other threads on here where people complained of similar incidents. Looking at the pictures in this one, my bet would be that either (A) The battery was disconnected due to the force of the impact (I have seen a few now where the positive battery terminal has been sheered off due to a hard frontal impact) or (B) the severed harness to the left front airbag sensor caused the system to go into a fault condition before the impact could have been registered.

on topic though, if Toyota closed the case it could be because this is the user's fault. Or probably what Scott mentioned. We can't be sure, but i doubt Toyota will just let go if it's their fault.

Well, I wonder if these air bags deployed... This guy was super lucky, or Yaris makes one hell of a cockpit.

Re post #7, that has to be the most mangled Toyota (as a result of an accident) that I have ever seen. What if the cannisters on that truck had been disturbed.....the proximity to the overhead wires *.

* - might not be as close as it looks, given the angle the picture is taken from, but still!

This is so fake! ...Completely. There is NO way there could be any survivors in that mess.

Of course he's in one piece. He was walking by the wreck, then went over to it and crawled in, a few people took photos.

I totaled a new VW when I was 18. I woke up in the hospital. I had a broken pelvis, a bruised kidney, and a concussion. I was in the hospital for over a week. I never saw the car again but, from what others told me, the appearance of the car screamed 'no survivors'. I had the window down and didn't have my seat belt on. The impact (going sideways into the nose of another car) catapulted me out the window enough that I was face first in a mud puddle off the road.

Not saying you're wrong...just saying one never knows for certain by appearance.

I watched the video. The author is wasting their time reporting that to Toyota. Of course their lawyers are going to sweep it under the rug. This should be reporting it to NTSB.

I dont see side impact, only front impact. In the description it says the Yaris was hit and spun out. Does it mean the Yaris collided head on? Too dramatic and slow video. Smells like ford or chevy propaganda.

OTOH, look at that arm and hand on what looks like a hydraulic cylinder right below the guy that looks like it is being used to spread the door opening to let the guy crawl out...
