Ear drum killing sound

2010 Yaris 4dr
With the rear windows both open and the front windows closed I get the worst sound wave I have heard it kills your eardrums. Took it to the dealer and they claim its normal. Has anyone else had this problem?

Search window vent visor. Solution to much of the whoomping beating on your eardrums.

Edit: Somebody move this to the correct forum.

Yes even the HB has this problem.
It's a buffeting effect.

I believe that the yaris has this proble due to the fact that it does not have any sort of rear air vent (as most other modern cars do) that minimizes this problem and resulting noise...... another cost cutting feature.

Personally, I have found that I do not even want to open any windows when on the highway.

Common in many two-door vehicles. My late father actually thought he had a flat tire in his Honda Pilot because he opened the windows one day that caused this effect. He took it to a tire shop, and they couldn't find anything wrong (obviously). It was until after he passed away that I was driving with my Mom and the same thing happened, and I explained it to her.

Crack the passenger window open a little and it will offset the buffering.

Cheers! M2
