Everyone I c runs 205/40's, I can see the variance for 205/45's are just a little bit more but still within 3%. I think I'd like a bit more rubber, call it pothole-a-phobia...

You can't put any size of tire you want on a car man! You have to respect the overall diameter of your stock wheel, that's mean, if you put bigger wheels, you must use slimmer tires to get the same overall diameter what your stock wheels. If you don't put the right tire size and get a bigger overall diameter more than 3%, all your gauges will be mistaken and your ECU will also get bad measurements who will result in major problems.

- For stock 175/65R14, you must use 205/35R17.

- For stock 185/60R15, you must use 205/40R17.
i have stock r15, can i get 205/45r17? i just dont like the hard ride on the 40s or do i have to go r16 for 45s?

i plan to put aftermarket wheels and tires. i have been computing the overall dia. based on tire sized a/b-rc. (a*(b/100)*2) + c * (25.4) = dia in mm. then just compute the % to not exceed 3 or 5% from the stock.

by the way, is it 3% or 5%?

also i noticed the yaris sedan and S have a differenent computed dia. 175/65r14 = 583.1mm dia vs 185/60r15 = 604.2. which is 3.6% and 3.5% respectively. Does this mean the ECU for the sedan is programed differently as that to the S?
