Are they the JDM folding power mirrors, and the noise happens when they fold in or open out, or are they just the normal power mirrors and the noise happens when the mirror glass moves?

OK - So they are the power folding ones. I would open them up, clean the little plastic gear box, and then re-lube it with a plastic friendly lubricant. The gear box for moving the glass is behind the mirror, but the gear box for folding is behind the mounting area, so you'll want to dismount the mirror to get at it.
