pioneer 8" or alpine 10" shallow mount sub?

got a question. i know bigger is better, but these are the only 2 options i have within a certain price point that will do what i want with the box space i have. my box is 12x14x7 OD...and is about 0.4 cft. i will be mounting sub INSIDE box to protect from seats and objects...so bottom mount is a must. it will be ported as well.

first, the pioneer is a 8", shallow mount with a bottom mount capability. it takes between .2 and .5 cft space. it's 130 bux. it's freq range is from 35-2500hz

second is the alpine 10", shallow mount with bottom mount capability. it takes between .3 and .6 cft space. this one is 200 bux and freq range is from 30-2500hz. power is about twice that of the 8 and can handle 800w.

my amp is a kenwood 1000w amp from best buy. it's a 2 channel amp and bridge capable. i'll be bridgine for max power. however, i wont be crankin up the power. it's all about sound and not about power..

so my question is, anyone have experience with either of the 2 subs mentioned?

I'm getting an 8" myself. I did a bit of research, also sticking at a price point. Two that kept getting brought up as good performers were the JBL GTO 804 and Boston Acoustics G108-4 or G108-44. The difference between the 2 Boston's is the -44 is 2 voice coil and capable of more power theoretically. I have the JBL coming and should arrive on Friday, so i cant give a first hand report yet.
Not the best on the market period, but both top rated at the price point. I will be using a sealed , 9.5 x9.5 x 8 box which is .41 cu. but after you subtract .03 for speaker volume and more for bracing, it should be at about .33 to .35 cu in.
Part of me was leaning to the B.A. but ran across a deal on the JBL I couldn't refuse. That and a 225 rms amp should fill the bill. I probably wont have the box built in time for this weekend. but will let ya know asap.

Ever thought about an Elemental Designs SQ10 sub?

$70, 0.3 ft^3 sealed (ideal), 3.40" total depth. RMS might be a bit low for your amp, though. But I've heard rave reviews about the SQ10.
