For those who have the rear disc brake conversion

After reading a recent thread about fabricating one's own bracket to accomodate a larger brake setup that wasn't meant for the Yaris. It got me to thinking about the rear disc brake conversion, and questions came out of that.
First - the rear disc included in the kit. Are the internals of that disc the same as the internals of a front disc?
Second - what brake pads would be compatible with it?

Rotor is probally made of simular material but its not going to be vented. Most rear rotors are not as they do not take the abuse that front rotors do. Weight of the motor is in the front and when you brake the car dips down thus the front brakes take probally about 80 percent of the braking force which is why u typically go through 2 -3 front brake jobs to every rear brake job depending on your driving style and area ie lots of hills compared to normal commute.

Second i think u can only get the brake pads that come with the kit as no aftermarket manufacture is going to mass produce something that is going to have extremly low sales.

it depends, alot of manufactures share similar size brake calipers/pads.

Using the same caliper for different applications allows economies of scale for both calipers and the required pads.

alot of the brake pad manufactures sell replacement pads for nearly all popular bbk and stock calipers.

The rear calipers and pads are made in Thailand. I carry replacement pads, and CarboTech will make pads for these calipers if I (1) run out or (2) someone wants something special.

I'm not sure of the exact rotor material, but I'm not sure what you mean by the "internals of the disc". The construction is different, because it retains an e-brake shoe inside. So, when you install it, you have a place to attach the e-brake cable.

Yeah, by internals I meant the construction.
See, after reading this one thread I got the idea to make a big brake kit out of your 320mm rotor, Evo calipers (with a remade relocation bracket), and using Evo rear calipers with the rear disc conversion in place of the calipers that come with it. However, after researching a bit, the rear Evo calipers require a larger rear disc, thus making my original question kinda useless :/

Well, no, I factored that in. I meant using front rotors for the Yaris on the rear. The bolt pattern would not change, otherwise I'd need new hubs, new wheels, etc which would be a huge pain in the ass to do. If you think about it, it's not that hard of a deal.

why not a honda civic BBK to build off of? MR2 MKI? MR2 Spyder?

I looked up civic BBKs, and the cheapest things I found were by Wilwood, and those were about a grand. I figure, with $430 for the big rotors from Garm, and another $300 for Brembo calipers off an Evo, I'd make a pretty competent Brembo brake kit for under a grand (after rebuilding the calipers and adding stainless steel lines). I'd much rather do this than keep small rotors and buy those crappy caliper covers. I like Brembo - the performance they offer and also the looks. Can't get a Brembo kit made specifically for the Yaris, see ;)

To say that I have Brembos...without having to pay almost 3 grand for a full Brembo kit.

im building some brake duct coolers. if it goes well, maybe ill sell a kit. why add all the weight, cool the ones you got now and pass corvettes. thats way cooler than people seeing brembos under your wheels at a stop light.
