trans seal leaking
I have 2010 Yaris with 22,000 miles on it. Just in for inspection. Mechanic says left outer trans seal leaking. Should be covered under warranty. Is this a common problem for the Yaris? Is this a recall matter??
any help appreciated! thanks rick |

Also depends on the dealer. I bought mine used and it came with balance of factory warranty and also 10 year or 100k powertrain warranty supplied by the Toyota dealer I bought from

Other than some forum chatter, there have been no consistent reports of problems with this vehicle and it is top rated for over all reliablity by several tracking sites for it's class. The vehicle is mass produced, there may be some failings for any number of reasons. In 50K miles of driving I've been lucky enough to have no problems.

My 2009 had a seal that was leaking (left axle seal). I cleaned it to confirm. 5,000 miles later, hasn't leaked again. If you see it leaking, take it in to get it done under warranty.

My left axle seal on my manual tranny started leaking at 40k. Had it replaced under warranty. Now the car is back in the shop for a bad 3rd gear synchro. This is my first Toyota and I am not impressed with the tranny.

My drivers side axle seal has begun to leak on my 2009 hatchback (it has 110K miles on it). My dealer says a leaky drivers side axle seal is semi-common. $159.00 plus tax for parts and labor. Considering this is the ONLY hiccup I've had with this car I can't complain at all. I replaced the tires at 70K and I still have the original brakes.

driver's side axle seal
2008 manual transmission Sport edition, has 110k. Dealer informed me of a driver's side axle seal leaking. Took a look at it and it looks like a weep, but should I be worried? If I check my trans fluid regularly, is this a problem?

Not a weep isnt a problem.
And I wonder what everybody means by "Leak"? A real hairy chested gusher is for concern but as long as you maintain the level not a problem.
