G key vs dot Key

I have searched the forum and can't find an answer.

My 2011 yaris sedan has a "G" on the key (metal blade) where as my old 2009 hatchback had a 'dot" on the key.

I am trying to buy a key on ebay and repeat the same programming trick I did for the 2009 so I have a spare key and working key fob.

Can anyone tell me if the G key is a transponder key? If so what is the difference besides labeling?

online the G key seems to be only for other toyota models.
