DIY: How to remove window tint

Here is a great way to remove tint with very little work.

1. Spray Windex or straight ammonia onto the window (use a LOT)
2. Open up a Hefty bag or similar and tape it around the edges, 100% sealing the Windex inside. Black plastic side facing the window is best.
3. Pull out a little section of tape, and spray more Windex in there. Seal it back up.
4. Park in the sun with the window facing the sun.
5. Let bake one hour, or until a toothpick comes out clean. (just kidding about the second part). Your window should be very hot to the touch!
6. Remove the plastic and peel off your tint.
7. While still hot, use the Windex and a microfiber (or whatever) to wipe whatever glue residue is left. This is much easier when it's warm or hot. You can use a heat gun if it cools off.

Ammonia will infuse into the film and release the glue beneath. The tint will peel off in one piece if you take your time and pull at a 45 degree angle.

I was able to pull my tint off without leaving a speck of glue residue...I'd suggest people give it a try then go forward with the sure thing Garm posted.
