RPM???
I don't know if this is right!?
I had a manual transmission, @ 4th gear doing 100km, is about 3600rpm. Same speed (100km) @ 5th gear about 3200rpm. Is that normal that the 4th & 5th gear r that close??? Just wondering!! |

In this thread http://yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5374 among the noise you can figure out that most people are seeing somewhere around 3000 RPM on the tach at 70 MPH.

I didn't see it either. What I would like to see is something like:
gear - mph - rpm So, in first gear, going 15 mph, you are ____ rpm, and have that for every gear. I thought there was a posting once about the shift point speed in mph and the corresponding rpm, but can't find it using the search function. |

2009 vitz: it is normal.
although, your eyes might be off, because 100kmh in 4th is 3000rpm and 5th is about 2700rpm. plug in the gear ratio, for the 1nz-fe 5spd yaris. First Gear Ratio (:1) 3.55 Second Gear Ratio (:1) 1.90 Third Gear Ratio (:1) 1.31 Fourth Gear Ratio (:1) 0.97 Fifth Gear Ratio (:1) 0.82 Reverse Ratio (:1) 3.25 Final Drive Axle Ratio (:1) 3.72 edit: this sheet is pretty much all good, except the final gear ratio, just modify as needed. |
