hatchback drivers-passenger door plate removal?

Not sure what this thing is even called but its part of the B pillar?

I would like to remove for paint without damaging if possible.

Pretty sure that's either satin black paint or vinyl tape. I think it's part of the door frame, so not a removeable part, per se. Throw a painter's sheet over your car, cut out a slightly larger rectangular hole and tape off the area. Tape your door gasket rubber in the painting area. Sand with a minumum 400 paper (600 might be better), spray paint with a satin black, such as this 2K product: https://centralalbertapaintsupply.ca...d-satin-black/ or use a black spray paint and a satin clear such as: https://www.spraymax.com/en-us/produ...k-clear-satin/. I believe both of these products have UV protection built in - very important as if no UV protection is present, these will fade rapidly.

I polished mine with my DA polisher and a polishing compound and applied a few coats of Klasse SG acrylic sealant. They came out great.

Officially, I believe it's called an 'applique'. Someone else asked about them recently and since I had mine replaced early in my car's life due to some spotting, I was familiar with them. They pop off and can be replaced or as 06 indicated, can be restored. More info including part numbers here:

They Pop off.So its just a matter of pulling untill the clips give out.If it is indeed clipped, and the clips break I would think 2 sided tape would resecure it just fine.

I used spraymax 2K for my mirrors after UPOL color match base of course. That stuff is amazing!

I just had my car painted(3 base+ 3 clears)and know the plastic looks really weathered.I did paint the parts around the side mirrors that came off easily.Know to finish it off completly I will paint the door plate thingy.

I could mask but prefer to have the part off so I can prep it more easily and not have to mask.

Every part that I could remove including badges were removed for spray.
