K&N vs AFE

Is there any difference in performance between the K&N gauze filter and the AFE Pro Dry 5?

The oiled filter should be better in trapping dirt than the dry ones.

l don't think you'll be seeing any real power gain between the 2 filters on these engines.

Power gain however, is only a fraction of the story. I would also take into consideration the filtering efficiency, servicebility of the filter, etc.

This article explains things a lot better than I can:

http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/kn-vs-oem-filter.htm

Because at the end of the day, you can just pull out the filter and have little/no air flow restriction, but also no filtration, which will eventually destroy your engine.

Dry filters are the only ones I'd use on any car with a MAF sensor. I've heard too many stories of MAF sensors getting ruined from the oil vapour carbonizing onto the hot element inside the sensor causing them to fail.
