The guy who was on here (and keeps getting banned) "Yaris T-sport" rallies his car in So Cal, he has a roof air scoop. That's all that I know of.

*Why does he keep getting banned? I just realized I don't see him on here. He stripped everything out of his car and had that ridiculous hood scoop! lol

Can't have a rally car without a roof scoop . Unless you actually like eating dust.
Or was it really that bad?

Me too, but if it was an actual rally car, then a roof scoop plays a very functional role of pressurising the cabin and helping prevent the entry of dust. But if it was just a street car, then I wouldn't be a fan either.

I must remember to put a pic up here when I finally cut a hole in my roof and put the roof vents in .

I think they have a rally cup in Europe or something. They use the 5 door TS so not everything they have would work, but there is a lot of potential I think. Good luck getting parts though. Rally is not cheap, and getting stuff from Europe or Japan won't be either.

Things that come to mind:
Get the LSD
Get Adjustable coilovers
Get several different wheels and tire combination for different surfaces.
Get bushings(they make a rally set if you can find them) made or fill in existing ones with something to harden them.

Get extra control arms, and other spare parts, especially suspension stuff. Rally is hard on the car and you will break things. If you have a spare you can stay competitive, and I doubt spare yaris parts will be available on site.

Rallying is only as expensive as you make it be. You don't absolutely have to have mega $$ suspension, tyres for every condition or an lsd when you first start out, and if you don't push the limits and drive to the conditions, you rarely break anything.

When I first started rallying (which was only 5 years ago), the dearest part was the actual entry fee for the events.

Ahhhh another young budding rallyist. 20 years ago to run competitively in the Canadian Championship it cost $100,000.00 and more.

BUT you can run local events, TSD events to get started and use a street car.
You'll need some tires, safety equipment and stuff depending on the type of event and rules you race under. Some of the TSD events are pretty darn fast and it takes alot of balls to keep up to you class times.

Good luck. Youll have alot of fun. Hood scoops not required......

Geez, I wish the car requirement rules were that relaxed over here in Australia that we could run street cars in a rally (like we used to in the "good ol days"). For us, a roof vent is a must, there is simply no other way to pressurise the cabin enough to prevent the entry of dust.

We don't have as much dust out here. It's either mud, dirt or snow and ice.
Heaters help. There is dust, but nothing like you'd get in Australia. The closest we would get that would be in the Alberta region.

Just a link to a pic of one the regional Ice X / rally X pics.

So what would be a good cheep rally X set up? shocks and strut wise, also what about springs? Do I have to try and find a rally vitz set up from japan?
I want to race rally X now and then but also rive in the snow a lot as well as dirt roads. The stock height is ok, but the ride quality is not to soft for me. Should I just upgrade shocks and struts with stock springs? thanks

for a cheap alternative for rally x get some good stiff shocks, keep springs stock. Good tires, LSD will help.
This will give you a good start.
And you'll have a blast.
