Power steering Yaris 09
hi my yaris 09 sometimes the power steering get realy hard for few seconds when parking then it come back to normal! any ideas what this could be?

when parking? i know it gets hard when u switch it off :P ... ummm try checking for steering oil, or if an leaks of the steering oil?

Do you have a manual tranny? Is your engine stalling because you forgot to hit the clutch? Obviously stalled engine = no power steering.

The power steering on the yaris is electric assist as long as the key is on you power steering.

If you step on the brakes, it makes turning harder, because the power steering has to over come the resistance of the brakes.

hi all yes its electric on the 09 when with the breakes its gets harder and then it soften agian is like looses power for few seconds this always happens when idle.

The controls have all kinds of inputs. Could be it lowers power with certain conditions.
My 07 is supposed to turn off if overloaded for too long of a time. Then reset after a short time out. |

Hmm could try tightening your battery terminal connections - because as many have said, power steering is electrical. :S
