My Sons ECHO is SOLD!

This is a 2000 silver four door I bought for him six years ago when he was in college. The particulars:

I paid $3000 for it with 117k on it. The car looked and drove like new. When sold it had ~200k on it, the alternator bearings were noisy, the power steering didnt work (probably the belt) and the front end made a lot of noise when you hit pot holes. He and his gf drove it to Seattle from NJ twice. And to Maine and back one summer. I estimate we put $450 in to it, mostly tires (which were less than $30 then!) including a rebuilt MAF sensor, oil and air fliters and a new battery.

I sold it for $1300 and fifteen people were interested in it. After it was gone one of them offered $1600 over the phone, sight unseen, with desparation in their voice!

I am told the car is now on its way to Costa Rica.

I wonder why a 200k miles ECHO would be so attractive lol.

The Toyota name probably helped, and that bullet proof engine.

Another reason (that I was well aware of when you posted this, have heard from multiple sources, but for some reason didn't recall when I saw this thread on 2-16 ) is that 'Cash for Clunkers' reduced the pool of such cars. A decrease in supply can push prices up .

You can see the antenna is missing. Came that way from the dealer.

Anyone got a spare one if the dealer wont make good on it?
