It only took 4 units to saturate the market!

Breaking ground with a new product is always an assumed risk, and a minimal one I was more than willing to take. The whole creative process is an exciting adventure.

Yeah, I pretty much did that with the Blitz gaskets. I'm sure the glovebox gauge panel will fare about the same.

That said, would there be any point to trying to combine this with a supercharger?

I don't believe it would be of any benefit, Cranky...

Longer intake runners increasing low end torque relates to normally aspirated induction where the action of the intake valves abruptly closing creates pressure waves that travel back and forth in the intake runners. When the timing of those pulses is altered because they have farther to travel the torque peak becomes shifted down lower in the rpm range.

As you can see, the effect on horsepower is essentially zero, and the torque increase is only +3. Almost all of the benefit is from the torque peak being reached 400 rpm sooner, at 3,650 instead of 4,050.

Putting an active pump between the throttle body and the head not only interrupts those pulses, but the fact that it is already pressuring the incoming air renders the value of timing of those pulses irrelevant.

Bottom line: What you already have is lightyears better than any spacer, so it is impossible for the spacer to make it any better.

This spacer looks pretty neat. How easy is it to install? Looks like you just remove the decorative engine cover, remove the original manifold screws, pull the manifold out a little, slip the spacer in and bolt it back down with the longer screws? Sounds like some hoses may need replacing with longer ones?

Yes. Some of the hoses do need to be longer because the whole intake manifold with the throttle body is moved towards the front of the car 2 inches. But as far as the spacer itself, it simply bolts on using the longer threaded studs and nuts that come with it.

The stock rubber intake hose will deflect enough to fit the new location of the throttle body. If you have an aftermarket intake, you'll need to find a way shift it around to fit.

The spacer uses exactly the same O ring gasket as the stock intake manifold to make a reliable no-leak seal...

It's not a high performance part because it doesn't do anything for your top end. But the longer intake runners do allow the engine to pull stronger at low rpms which is nice in normal everyday driving.

That's what my Yaris is - a daily driver. Some reports suggest a slight MPG increase which would be much appreciated. Mods that can increase mileage and power are rather interesting to me. I don't plan to do major mods to upset the great mileage I've been getting.

I plan on keeping the stock airbox so it's good to know the two are compatible. Does it come with a gasket or do I reuse the original one?

Same here... Ours is my wife's daily driver so all of the engine internals and ECU stay stock with no tuning, so it's rock solid reliable and runs on cheap 87 octane gas.

The stock air boot is a stretch, but it will work as it is.

The original O ring gasket stays right where it is on your stock manifold so that it can seal when it's bolted onto the spacer. It'll be like this...

One gasket between the manifold and the spacer and one gasket between the spacer and the head.

As far as gas mileage, our 2012 5 speed hatchback is EPA rated at:

30 mpg City
33 mpg Combined
38 mpg Highway

The average gas mileage for the last three fillups with the tooter I.V spacer is 37.3 mpg...

...and this is even with no freeway driving and my wife over revs the engine.

That last one sold a while ago so I had six more made. They're in stock and ready to ship.
