INTERMITTENT AIR CONDITIONING

I'm having a problem with my A/C, it began last December after 30 minutes of working at idle the car on a really hot day, it just stop cooling, everything was working but the compressor. So I step on the accelerator and it kick back again, working normal until it completed the cycle (°40F), then stop cooling again the compressor.

I thought that it had to do something with the high pressure sensor of the compressor that was oppening the circuit because I had a really low level of coolant, that I have replace (it was about time) and is to normal level, but no it just keep on doing it.

There is no problem when the car is running above 1000 rpm, and for sure there is no leak, so it will not be cooling.

And it does not happens all the time , so my final guest will be a sensor or the thermostat??

This is a 2008 Yaris Advance, @ 200,000 kmts.

If you can get someone to connect the Toyota diagnostics tool (techstream) to the car, you can run communicate with the AC ECU to find out why it is turning off the compressor.

Besides pressure too high or low, it will also stop driving the compressor if it doesn't think that the alternator is outputting enough power. The Yaris alternator connects to the AC ECU and power steering ECU to tell them that it is outputting enough power for those devices to operate.

I will have get the diagnose at the dealer, I have check the alternator, and is running fine, and I have no issue with any electrical thing in the car.

I'll keep you posted.

Thanks CTScott
